H2NO! Dry Shave Gel in three scents
Hi Miranda! Thanks so much for sharing your story with us today! Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi! My name is Miranda Wilson, founder, and creator of H2NO! Shave Co. Originally born and raised in Garland (shout-out G-town) now residing in Arlington. Candidly, I get my products produced at an FDA facility in Carrollton, Texas, so I’m a bit different from your traditional “maker” but shaving has always been a dreaded task for me (and I’m willing to bet just about every other woman out there). After 20 years working in personal care product development, I found a new and better way… “dry” shaving with a LOTION. A real lotion that isn’t applied to wet skin and isn’t rinsed off. I was hooked!
After being addicted to dry shaving for over a decade, and my stash of lab samples ran dry, I scoured store shelves and online for an alternative but couldn’t find anything remotely close. After shaving in a hotel shower in Las Vegas, I attended a beauty trade show with the worst case of razor burn in human history. That’s when I looked around and wondered how many women around me had the same problem? It was in that moment I decided to find out if I was crazy or if other women would be interested in a less painful, more convenient (not to mention eco-friendly) way to shave. The company was officially established in 2018 and launched at pop-up markets in the DFW area in 2020. I’m proud to say we’re holding a 4.5 star rating on Amazon and no one has taken advantage of my money back guarantee.

We love that you saw a problem and set about fixing it! We need more Mirandas in this world! What are you most excited about for the future?
My background has exposed me to so much waste…. both plastic waste and water waste. In the beauty and packaging industry where there is so much waste and few truly recyclable items. I’m super jazzed about all the innovation around enzyme compostable plastics and sensor technology that will be better able to sort and segregate plastic waste and improve recyclability.
I love that humans are re-thinking “how and why” we do so many of the things we do. I hope consumers will add adapting shaving routines to this mindset too! Each tube saves over 300 gallons of water. Which might not seem like much. But if only 2% of the women in Dallas switched to dry shaving, we’d save roughly…. Drum roll please… 11 million gallons of water…. ANNUALLY. Did you catch that math was just for Dallas? And I said Millions with an “M”. Imagine the positive impact Texans could make in drought season with a simple grooming change that actually makes life easier!
Saving the planet AND our skin? Everyone needs to know about H2NO! Shave Co. Speaking of— how did you come up with your business name?
The origin story of H2NO! Shave Co. is one of my favorites! Since 2018 before launching, I called it “shower-free shave gel.” While talking business plans on the way to brunch with my mother one morning, she turns to me and says, “That is such a mouthful- you need to come up with a better name.” In typical snarky daughter fashion, I counter with, “You come up with something better then!”. She quietly sits there for a few seconds and says, “How about H2NO?” Mind = blown. I immediately went to check the USPTO.gov trademark registry. It was open for trademarking, so I went for it, and the rest is history.

Way to go, mom! What a catchy name! What are three words that best describe your work?
Completely life-changing…and that is no understatement.
We are so glad that epic razor burn incident inspired you to make shaving a better experience for all! If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
I’d like to say my superpower would be to banish single use plastics or magically be able to clean up water ways… Which I’m all for, don’t get me wrong. But if I’m being honest- it would be to addict people to “dry shaving” so we could conserve our most precious natural resource...water.
